Many Palestinian farmers are prevented from harvesting their olive trees, either because they are separated from their land by checkpoints and/or the wall, or because violent settlers threaten to hurt or kill farmers who go to their land (their reason: "the trees were planted by Jews 2000 years ago, so therefore belong to the Jews"). The International Women's Peace Service (IWPS) accompanies farmers and families to their land during the olive harvest to either prevent such crimes or document them if they should happen.
