Demonstrators from across Palestine, Israel, and the world gathered in Ramallah and marched to the site where Mahmoud Abbas and Kofi Annan were meeting. Annan had been flown from Jerusalem to Ramallah (less than 10 miles), so that he would not have to see or deal with the wall or checkpoints, both of which plague the lives of Palestinians everyday. Demonstrators contended that Annan and the rest of the world must see the injustice. Women carried photographs of their loved ones in prison, many of whom are innocent and held without charge--another great injustice of the occupation.
