A man selling tea at a checkpoint. Vendors, bus stations, and businesses popping up near checkpoints indicate just how deeply ingrained the institution of checkpoints has become. Of course, one is happy to have tea or water while waiting in the hot sun for hours, but adapting can be a method of coping rather than of resisting, which ultimately implies a form of status quo acceptance. The sad part is how much easier it is to cope than to resist, at least in the short run.
