Room Mushara that housed around 12 Mizrahi Jews after being appropriated by Ashkenazim when the Palestinian owners were forced to leave in 1948. Children had to sleep in shifts—the younger ones sleeping at night and the older ones roaming the streets until day-break when they would get their turn in the shared beds. Some of the young people went on to form the Israeli Black Panthers.
